Short haul flights within Europe are usually operated by narrow-body aircraft with non lie flat seats in business class. But there are some routes where you will find lie flat seats, either in wide-body aircraft and meanwhile even in narrow-body aircraft. The difference between a narrow-body and a wide-body aircraft A narrow-body aircraft has one single aisle, and the number of seats is between two and six abreast. The most known narrow-body aircraft are Airbus 220, 319, 320 or Boeing 737, Dash 8… A wide-body aircraft is wide enough to accommodate two passenger aisles with seven or more seats abreast. The most known wide-body aircraft are Boeing 747, 777, 787 or the Airbus 380, 340, 330…. Lie flat seats routes in Business Class within Europe Some routes within Europe are operated by wide body aircraft, either by local carriers or due to a 5th freedom route. Most of these routes that are operated by wide body aircraft offer lie-flat or angled flat business class seats. Meanwhile, some narrow-body aircraft, like the A320, offer lie flat seats in business class as well. These short haul flights are usually of a great value if you redeem your miles, and sometimes they can be purchased at a low price. You get the full experience of a business class, which you typically only have on long haul flights. Below you can find a list by airlines, in alphabetical order, that are offering such flights within Europe. However, keep in mind that an airline can change the type of aircraft for a route, even on short notice, which would not entitle you to compensation.
