Hotel Review: Hilton Helsinki Airport

Review Hilton Helsinki Airport, end of 2021.

We were staying at the Hilton Helsinki Airport during a full week as we had to attend a meeting close by to the airport.

Location

The Hilton Helsinki Airport is located literally next to the airport and connected to the terminals by a covered walking path. You will need 5 minutes by foot from the hotel to the check-in area or to the underground stop of Helsinki airport.

However, it will take you 30 minutes by train to reach the city center. So the hotel is definitely not ideal if you plan to explore the city each day.

Room

As A Diamond member, we have been upgraded from an Executive Room Plus to a Junior Suite.

The Suite is very spacious and divide into two areas. You have a spacious living area with a sofa, table, some chairs, and an extra TV as well as all the usual amenities. In this area you can also find a separate toilet.

On the other side of the suite you will find your bedroom with a King Bed in it. All the normal amenities are available in your room as well as very big, soundproof windows, giving you a view over the adjacent airport and its runway if you are lucky.

The highlight of the suite is definitely the bathroom as you can find a bathtub, a shower and an incredibly spacious private sauna.

All in all, rooms have still a good-looking feeling in terms of furniture and there was nothing to complain about in terms of cleanliness.

Hilton Helsinki Airport has one restaurant in the lobby area where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served. In front of the restaurant is a lounge area which serves as the bar.

Breakfast was very tasty with a solid selection of food. However, if you are staying here for a longer period of time it becomes boring in terms of selection as the food was exactly the same each and every day. The quality of the food however was absolutely good.

We also ate dinner once at the hotel. They have a small menu, but everything tasted delicious, we can definitely recommend eating there.

Executive Lounge at Hilton Helsinki Airport

As a Diamond member or if you stay in an executive room or junior suite, you have access to the executive lounge located on the 5th floor.

The lounge is open nonstop to have some soft-drinks, sweets or coffee. Between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m, you also receive free alcoholic beverages as well as some cold and hot snacks. In terms of alcohol, you can find enough spirits, beer as well as wine. You have to consider that alcohol is very expensive in Finland, if you like to drink 2 or 3 glasses of wine in the evening, booking an executive room or junior suite makes sense, even if they cost more than a normal room.

In terms of snacks, we were positively surprised. You could have had a full dinner there if you wanted. We stayed there twice, and the snacks on the menu were different each time.

The only problem might be that the lounge is of a rather small size, so when many people stay at the hotel, it might be problematic to accommodate everybody entitled to enter the lounge.

Other services

The hotel has a small fitness room which is however well quipped as well as some more saunas. In the lobby area, you can also find a small room with toys for children to play with.

Staff

All the staff with which we were in contact were very friendly all the time. Especially the waitress at the executive lounge did an amazing job.

Bottom Line

If you have plans near the airport of Helsinki or need an airport hotel for an overnight stay, we can for sure recommend Hilton Helsinki Airport, the hotel as well as all its amenities. If you are looking to visit the city center of Helsinki, the hotel is not ideally located.
