Lounge Review: British Airways Lounge Washington Dulles (IAD)

This is our review of the British Airways Lounge at Washington Dulles, which we visited in April 2023. To give you a heads-up, this is one of the better British Airways lounges.

Location and Access

Having two daily flights and a considerable number of premium passengers traveling between London and the US capital, it’s evidently logical to establish a specialized British Airways lounge at Washington Dulles. The BA lounge is located in Concourse B near gate B50. It is accessible to British Airways passengers flying in Business or First class, and also to travelers flying first or business class with oneworld partners or holding oneworld status.

Priority Pass holders are also granted access to the lounge between 7am and 2pm, despite the absence of British Airways flights during this timeframe. However, the food options may differ during this period.

Seating options

All tough the BA lounge at Washington Dulles is a smaller lounge with only 930 square meters and room for 200 passengers, you can find many different seating possibilities. The lounge comprises multiple rooms, a design feature resulting from its lengthened shape, influenced by the terminal’s proportions. I find this layout appealing, as it provides ample space and prevents overcrowding, even during peak visitation periods.

Food and Drinks

The food options were satisfactory, offering finger sandwiches, fruits, cheese, salads, and soups. A fully-stocked set of drink refrigerators was situated next to the desserts.

Towards the right side, behind the snack and drink area, there is a separate dining room, akin to a restaurant, featuring large windows that offer a splendid view of the airport.

However, the food on offer in the dinning area is quite typical for British Airways, similar to what you’ll find in many BA lounges, which I’m not particularly fond of.

Alternatively, there was an option to order different food. The seating area had numbered small tables with QR codes that allowed for menu scanning and food ordering.

I ordered the beef burger, it was ok, a little too greasy and lacked salt on both the burger and the fries.

Other Services

The lounge features a stylish and modern design with comfortable seating, and complimentary Wi-Fi. There is also a small work area for business travelers (picture above) and shower facilities for those who need to freshen up before their flight.

You can find enough power sockets everywhere.

Down the lounge you can find a bar, where you can order some spirits, wine or cocktails.

Conclusion

Although we’ve heard that the lounge’s layout is unusual and appears like a long and narrow corridor, we appreciated its design as it offers ample privacy and never feels congested. While the food could use some improvement, overall, this is a pleasant lounge to spend some time in.

Mamo. Mokonnen, and Betty were extremely friendly and professional.
There ladies worked hard to ensure we got nothing but top service while using the lounge. They need to be recognized for their dedication. This was at Dulles on 28 Nov.

    Thank you so much
