Coronavirus Car Rental companies rebooking or refunds policies – UPDATE

Coronavirus car rental related policies vary. Here you can check how companies handle rebooking or refunds related to Covid-19 when you have booked a car with them.

Most car rental companies always allow you to cancel a reservation free of charge as long as you do that in a given period of time usually 48 hours to one week before the booking.

However also prepaid rates are available at some companies, which are usually a bit cheaper. Now most rental car companies are adjusting their time limits because of the Coronavirus crisis and car rental terms start to apply.

If you have rented your car via online travel agents or other third party travel professionals you have to know that their policies do apply, we have listed some of them as well.

No-fee cancellation policy extended to include customers with pre-paid rentals booked directly through Alamo.

Extended existing no-fee cancellation policy to include customers with pre-paid rentals booked directly through Enterprise. Reservations can be canceled using your confirmation number along with your first and last name on the website, confirmation email or on the app.

Customers who have booked a rental through a third-party are encouraged to contact that party directly to understand their policy.

Billiger-Mietwagen.de

  1. Up to 24 hours before collection: You can cancel your rental car free of charge up to 24 hours before collection (local time, during our opening hours). For a telephone cancellation, please contact our customer service on 0221 – 567 999 11 (+49 221 – 567 999 11 outside Germany). We can be reached there at the following times:
    Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
    Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  2. Up to 36 hours before collection: You can also cancel your rental car online up to 36 hours before the start of the rental. Simply click on the cancellation link in the confirmation email for your booking, cancel directly in your customer account at billiger-mietwagen.de or via the billiger-mietwagen.de app

Exceptions:
A rebooking is not possible if you have booked your rental car as part of a discount campaign or with a voucher. There are also offers from some organizers that cannot be rebooked for organizational reasons. Here you can cancel and then rebook.
