Flight review Austrian Airlines Business class 777-200 Vienna to Los Angeles in May 2019.
The boarding in Vienna was well organized and not stressful at all. The dedicated check in counter was ideal for the purpose and not filled with economy passengers.
The flight was operated by a Boeing 777-200.
WiFi wasn't available on board, which certainly is a negative aspect as nowadays most major airlines offer internet on board.
The amenity kit was nice, nothing special but everything you expect from an standard amenity kit was provided as you can see in the pictures below.
Austrian Business Class seats on the 777-200 are in a 1-2-1 and 2-2-1 configuration similar to the business class of SWISS. However Austrian Airlines seats are more comfortable and enough storage is provided to pack your things, but the storage space is still not great, only sufficient.
The seats are very good but unfortunately they do not offer much privacy which is a drawback if you are not travelling with someone you know and do not want to chitchat.
A so called “Privacy Seat” similar to the “throne seat” on other SWISS is available for a fee of 189€, which is a lot of money for a seat reservation of an already expensive business class, and you don't have realy much more prvacy in this seat.
Pillows are provided as well as a bed cover, which are both fluffy and comfortable.
The entertainments screens are of an adequate size and quality as are the provided noise cancelling head phones.
Funny glas holder, which is however very useful.
Food & Drinks
Here comes the point where Austrian Business class can really score big time. Food in business class is one of the best on the market as they have a kitchen chef flying with you on board. The food was delicious, sadly pictures can't show you how good it tasted.
The selection of appetizers and cheese presented to you on a tray are great. Furthermore you have a whole menu dedicated solely for every variant of coffee you can imagine.
Cappuccino with fresh cream
Dessert: chocolate cake and fresh fruit
The service in Austrian Business class was friendly and professional, nothing negative to report here.
Austrian Airlines offers a very competitive business class product. The food was delicious and much better on most of the airlines I flew before and the service was as it should be. There are only a few airlines which offer a better overall product because of different, more spacious and private seats.
