Hotel Review: Hilton Boston Logan Airport

We stayed 2 nights at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport in Autumn in an Airport View one Kind Bed room. The hotel is quite expensive so we opted in for one paid and one redemption night.

Location

The hotel is located adjacent to the airport an accessible convenient via an enclosed sky bridge from the Terminal. Downtown Boston is only around 10 minutes away by car. Besides of the airport, there are no restaurants, bars or shops within walking distance from the Hotel.

Rooms

The rooms at the Hilton Boston Logan airport are spacious and have a comfortable King size bed, but they are quit dated. There are signs of usage pretty much everywhere and the rooms definitely need some renovation in the near future. The door to the room is far from sound proof so you can literally hear everything what is going on outside of the room.

Rooms are equipped with an ironing plate, a work desk, sofa, chair, laptop sized safe and the usual amenities.

Bathroom size is adequate with a bathtub. The shower head is not very high so for taller people it is quite uncomfortable to take a shower.

The view overlooking the airport and in our case the apron is very nice if you are an airplane enthusiast. Furthermore the windows are sound proof so noise from outside is not a problem. The in room air conditioning/heating system however makes quite some noise from time to time so you are better of turning it off during the night if you can.

Food & Drinks

We had complimentary continental breakfast included due to our Gold status. Unfortunately like it is the case with more hotels in the US, when you have complimentary breakfast included due to your status you do not have access to the entire buffet but only to the “continental” part. Here, that means only the cold buffet. If you wish to access the hot stuff you have to pay 15$ extra. As the hot buffet consisted of only 6 choices which did not look very appealing we passed. Also the cold choices were very limited.

You are definitely are better of purchasing some rather fresh stuff from the small snack and coffee desk in the lobby area and not take breakfast at the restaurant at all.

The first night after an evening arrival by aircraft we wanted to have a snack in our room. I called the appropriate service only to be told that it would take at least 90, if not 120 minutes to get our food delivered to our room as the restaurant was very busy. The employee told us that we could however go down, order at the restaurant while having a drink in the lobby than it should only take about 20 minutes. We were really hungry so we opted in fort that and received ou ordered food after roughly 20 minutes in a take away box. This was a really  unpleasant experience after all. Why is it not possible to deliver the food to the room if it takes only around 20 minutes to be prepared if you order downstairs? However we must say that food was really tasty and if you need a bite you can definitely opt in if waiting time is not too long.

Staff

Staff at the reception and in the restaurant was not very polite but nt unfriendly either. During breakfast it took almost 10 minutes to get our coffee which is definitely too long.

Other Amenities

The hotel has a pool an a very nice fitness centre with all equipment that you need and enough space. Furthermore a small business are with computers is located in the lobby as well as a small gift shop.

We needed to park our car for one night which costs a whooping 46$. That is definitely way too much, especially as they also have a couple of parking spots in front of the hotel and the indoor parking was basically empty. You are probably better of using the airport parking in terms of money.

PASS or FAIL

FAIL

Despite the ideal location if you arrive by plane, we have to give this hotel a FAIL. Rooms are simply to dated for the high price you pay and the food situation was not acceptable. In terms of value, the hotel is too expensive and we suggest looking for a more modern and more reasonable priced hotel in the surrounding of the airport or downtown Boston even if this means using an airport shuttle bus.
