Review: Hilton Gyeongju

We booked a deluxe king room and due to our Gold status received an upgrade to a deluxe maple suite as well as free breakfast.

Location

The hotel is located in the ancient city of Gyeongju by the Lake Bomun and is surrounded by country side, mountain range, an amusement park as well as a small district with a few restaurants and shops.

Rooms

Our suite was very spacious and modern. A living area with a large couch, desk, a TV, a separate bedroom with a nice King size bed with another TV as well ass a big bathroom with a walk in shower and a toilet were all in our room. We also had a nice balcony overlooking the nature around the hotel. A fancy display at the night desk allows you to control literally everything in your room.

Food & Drinks

We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel, and both were very good. In terms of breakfast, the available selection was huge, everyone will find something decent to eat here. A drawback are the enormous prices at their bar, you pay 10$ for an espresso which definitely is a joke.

Staff

Staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful and helped us with a small issue. However the concierge was somewhat reserved and staff in the bar and restaurant rather slow.

Other services

A nice fitness centre was available and even a Squash court, never saw that in a hotel before. Furthermore they had a nice indoor swimming pool and some outdoor swimming pools with many small attractions to entertain your kids. Also some small shops are located near the lobby.

Conclusion

The hotel is big and modern. Plenty of walking tracks are available adjacent to the hotel and the main tourist sites can all be reached easily with the taxi, and if you are sporty even with bikes. The hotel is also very children which makes it a perfect spot for couples as well as families to explore Gyeongju. However avoid their bar due to the enormous prices.
