Kakunodate
Kakunodate is a small town in Japan where some buildings of the samurai era are still intact. It can be found in the district of Semboku. A lot of hiking opportunities can be found around here as well.

Location
The hotel is located immediately next to the train station. Basically all sites of Kakunodate are within walking distance as well as the bus/train station which gives you an easy opportunity to visit the other cities of Semboku.

Rooms
The rooms are pretty basic, they do not have the most modern furniture but are okay in terms of size, considering that it is a super small hotel in such a small town. In the room however you have all the amenities you need and the bathroom is of an acceptable size. You find a small closet, a desk, a refrigerator and a pretty descent sized TV in your room. You are sleeping right next to the train tracks which is not a problem as only about 4 trains pass Kakunodate each day.

Food & Drinks
When you book a room at Folkloro Kakunodate, dinner and breakfast are included which you can have in the small restaurant embedded in the same building. The dinner experience was special and very good. In terms of breakfast the choice was limited but considering the very small size of the hotel definitely sufficient.
They have a mini shop next to the reception where you can buy some food, soft drinks and souvenirs. A vending machine for alcohol and a microwave are also available.
