Canada opening to vaccinated travelers

Finally, after more than 1 year, Canada will reopen to travelers.

In a first step, Canada will reopen its borders to fully vaccinated Americans as of August 9, 2021.

Om September 7, 2021, Canada will then reopen to fully vaccinated travelers from around the world.

Fully vaccinated means two weeks after you have received your last dose of a vaccine approved by Canada.

Following vaccines are approved:

• Moderna
• Pfizer-BioNTech
• Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)
• AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD

Bottom Line

This step was long overdue, closing borders haven’t kept the virus out of countries.

It was understandable in the beginning, but now that there’s a vaccine, there’s no need anymore in closing borders. (for vaccinated travelers)

Until now, the United States hasn’t announced a date yet when they will reopen the borders to travelers. But President Biden said last week that they will announce a date soon, most probably that will be in September as well.
